There is a specialized IELTS test for a UK visa if you intend to take one. This requirement is solely accepted by UK Visas and Immigration as evidence of English language proficiency. The rates and charges may vary from regular IELTS.
Under this IELTS scheme, which could be quite unknown for many, candidates apply specifically for family and settlement routes. It assesses listening and speaking skills at two levels: A1 (for the family route) and B1 (for the settlement route). This test is available at CEFR Level A1 and CEFR Level B1, and usually, such tests happen at the same time.

IELTS British Council is the preference of most of the students. In this section, your keen attention to keywords is tested with a total mark of 9.0.
The IELTS pattern is not changing in 2025, and applicants can prepare with the current IELTS exam (2024) pattern guidelines. Candidates are expected to take the IELTS reading test in 3 sections, and a total of 40 questions are to be solved on their end. In general, expect around 12–14 questions for each section, and you have an hour (60 minutes) to tackle your reading exam.
New question types are designed for each section of the IELTS. Similar is for the face-to-face speaking test, where your ability to speak up your opinions, clarity of description, better pronunciation, usage of vocabulary, and grammatical fluency are checked.
Candidates are required to listen to 4 different audio recordings. This can be monologues or conversations between two different native speakers of English. Based on the sample audio, you are made to answer 40 questions. The time allotted for this listening section is 30 minutes.
